Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientists, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The LS-SWIFT Division of KLA's Global Products Group provides patterned wafer inspection systems for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing. Its mission is to deliver market-leading cost of ownership in defect detection for a broad range of applications in the production of semiconductors. Customers from the foundry, logic, memory, automotive, MEMS, advanced packaging and other markets rely upon high-sample wafer inspection information generated by LS-SWIFT products.Job Description/Preferred QualificationsResponsibilitiesThe LS-SWIFT Division seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to augment our Optomechanical Design team.The selected engineer will own developing mechanical subassemblies, covering the complete design process from requirements specification to feasibility studies, analysis, and FEA modeling, conceptual and detailed design, and drawing using ProE, procurement and inspection of prototype parts, prototype assembly and testing, system integration, and handoff to manufacturing. A particular focus of this position will be analytical and experimental validation and optimization of challenging mechanisms and optomechanical designs.Required qualifications:

  • Solid mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, and fabrication methods.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Beginner to expert-level experience in using FEA - structural, thermal, and CFD.
  • Hands-on lab tests, automated data acquisition, and data analysis.
  • Experience with CAD, preferably Pro Engineer. Experience in using the FEA package, preferably ANSYS.Experience in several of these areas is desirable but not required: precision mechanics, mechanisms, nano motion actuators, optomechanical systems, optics, optics alignment, design of semiconductor equipment or similar instruments, PCB packaging and thermal analysis, machine tools, motion controls, data acquisition, and measurement instrumentation.Minimum QualificationsDoctorate (Academic), Master's Level Degree or work experience of 2 years, Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 4 years.Base Pay Range: $114,100.00 - $194,000.00 AnnuallyPrimary Location: USA-CA-Milpitas-KLAKLA's total rewards package for employees may also include participation in performance incentive programs and eligibility for additional benefits including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, life, and other voluntary benefits, 401(K) including company matching, employee stock purchase program (ESPP), student debt assistance, tuition reimbursement program, development and career growth opportunities and programs, financial planning benefits, wellness benefits including an employee assistance program (EAP), paid time off and paid company holidays, and family care and bonding leave.Interns are eligible for some of the benefits listed.
